Alphington House
Alphington - 2006

Dreaming, imagining and ambitiously building has forged a home of possibilities. This is a sustainable living environment designed to evolve and flex with its user's need. The house blends a 1950's cream brick modernist building with an organic and earthy assemblage of forms and materials. Stone, steel, concrete and recycled timbers are detailed to expose the intrinsic qualities of the material. Three levels provide a ground level office, first floor residence and roof terrace. Experientially, the building offers a variety of places to be from heavy and cradled to light and exposed, bedded in the earth yet open to the sky. The building is well manered with little temperature variation. To run, it's kind on the pocket and low maintenance, It offers a range of complex environments. A well equiped vehicle that can adapt and carry us into the future.
